Artist Vision
I spend and live my life between Arizona and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The Southwest is deeply important to me—I love it, I live it, I draw it, I am it.
However I do not believe traditional “Southwest” art is a true representation of what the Southwest really is at its core. Traditional imagery of Coyotes howling at the moon, Kokopellis dancing with a curvy flute, and picturesque sunsets with Saguaros—reduces the history and reality of the place to something you can sell at a Gift Shop. The true West has always been rough, harsh, and dangerous. It was built on survival, conflict, and risk. Cowboys, Native Americans, outlaws, whiskey, guns, bull riding—and now cartels and drugs.
Southwestern art should reflect this reality. It should be a bit edgy, a bit aggressive, and unapologetically modern. The West has always been full of those who chased freedom and fortune—who killed and were killed in the process. I aim to embrace that intensity, that raw ambition, the untamed spirit by offering a bold and unique style and vision of a place that remains edgy and contemporary.
In each piece, I strive to create work that isn’t just visually engaging but emotionally and intellectually challenging—art that represents our lives and force the viewers to see beyond the surface. Art that is messy and confusing up close, like all of our private lives, but once you pause and step back you can see the beauty which is made up of all the little messes working together to create a beautiful piece.
